On the road again: UK Maker Faire in Newcastle 26- 27 April

Edinburgh Mini Maker Faire

Here I am at Edinburgh Mini Maker Faire eating a caramel slice and admiring my lanterns.

Edinburgh Mini Maker Faire was great fun. Thanks to Roof for organizing it all and thanks to my dear friend Toni for volunteering for two days to help me make it all happen.

We made a lot of lanterns and had some interesting conversations about how the participants will take the idea and build on it.  I hope to see some pictures of these projects when they come to fruition. Summerhall are going to keep the lanterns for a while, so if you like to see them again or you missed Mini Maker Faire you can pop in and see them.

However, there is no rest for the wicked, so I’m off to Maker Faire UK in Newcastle this weekend. I stocked up on lots of lovely paper today so I can get cracking to make a few more lanterns especially for Newcastle.

I’m just packing my boxes for Edinburgh Mini Maker Faire. I have batteries, LEDs, insulation tape, thread, string, pencils, glue sticks and paperclips. Have I missed anything?

Mini Maker Faire is on Sunday the 20th April at Summerhall in Edinburgh (it’s the old Dick Veterinary School). It will be the final day of Edinburgh Science Festival.  I can’t wait to get set up on Saturday so that I can just enjoy the event on Sunday. I am intrigued to see the other makers, I believe their will be a sombrero packing a lot of LEDs, sounds like my kind of hat! I’m hoping to catch up with old friends too.

Yeah I know, stop chatting and get packing!
